The Resurrection of the Tethys Sea
Research into the history of the earth and the geology of the Alps revealed that the hydrothemal deposit of Lavey-les-Bains contains the mineral salts of the primordial sea Tethys, which was formed in the Triassic 200 million years ago. During the Cenozoic era 60 to 20 million years ago it sank into the depths of the earth.
The Water from the Ice Age reloaded
The water from Lavey-les-Bains had no contact with the Earth’s surface or atmosphere for at least 14,150 years, as the Laboratory for Ion Beam Physics at ETH Zurich discovered, using the radiocarbon dating method.
The laboratory is one of the world’s leading laboratories for 14C dating using the radiocarbon method. It has also dated the Shroud of Turin, the founding document of the Swiss Confederation and tissue from Ötzi the Iceman.
The water therefore comes from the melting of the glaciers after the end of the last Ice Age, when we were hunters and gatherers.

An international research team reconstructs the history of the glaciation of the Alps with a computer model and makes it visible in a computer animation. If you look at the sequence 14,150 years ago, you can see that the ice layer in the Lavey-les-Bains area has disappeared. The meltwater has seeped into the ground. During the ice age this area was covered with a thick layer of ice.

The 14C dating method shows that Tethys has been untouched since the end of the last ice age and has since been stored in the depths of the earth. The mineral salts in Tethys originate from the primordial ocean Tethys according to the formation history of the Alps and the world.
